Mother Nature decided to say ‘hello’ in the middle of the varsity football game with Duncanville.
On that suspenseful and nail-biting game, the third quarter was interrupted for more than an hour due to heavy showers and lightning.
“I believe any time there is a rain or lightning delay it affects the team in some form because it disrupts the continuous flow of the game,” varsity football coach DeLay said.
After returning, the Vikes struggled to recover while Duncanville took the opportunity to score the majority of their points.
“I believe Duncanville gained some momentum after scoring on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter,” DeLay said, “but I believe our kids were always locked in and giving great effort throughout the entire contest.”
Although our Vikes stopped at the third round, they ended the season with an 11-2 record and a proud coach.
“2018 was a memorable season because of the work and effort of the entire team,” said DeLay. “This group of seniors bought into the culture 4 years ago and the growth they made over their high school career was remarkable.”
Congratulations Vikes on making it to the Regional Playoffs and a great year.
“I love this team & love this group of seniors. They took this program to a new level and now future teams will be challenged to the new standard,” DeLay said. “VFND.”
