Senior Awards Ceremony

The senior awards ceremony was a success. Senior students gathered together to celebrate their final triumphs as high schoolers.

“It took a lot of hard work but I was able to pull through and finally able to say that I am graduating.” said Senior Maya Malone.

The special presentations started off with the Fire Academy Award, received by senior Kyah Pointer.

“I felt like I accomplished something that I never thought that I would be able to” said  Pointer.

During the second half of the ceremony, members of the Academic Decathlon team received cords for their accomplishments along with the top 20 percent.

“Being an african american student I was able to accomplish many things that others could not during my four years of lamar.”said senior Deidre Beard.

Acknowledgments went to the National Merit Award finalist, Wei-Chen Huang, and the scholar, Karen Yang.

“It’s great that i can receive such a high honor and the scholarship is great” said senior Wei-Chen Huang.
