Associate Principal Encouraged by Student Success
Myrna Hernandez is Lamar’s Associate Principal. The South Texas native began her career in education, teaching in South Texas. She was an 8th grade English teacher at Mission Junior High School in Mission Texas.
In 2015, Hernandez arrived in Arlington ISD. Something she enjoys most about her position is watching students actively learning. “It truly makes me happy to see students expanding their knowledge and creating fun memories, she says.
Outside of school, Hernandez spends her time relaxing and rejuvenating at home. She is truly an “early bird,” so during the weekends she is up around 5:30 am enjoying her early morning cup of coffee.
Hernandez prides herself on being organized and a systems thinker – two qualities that truly help her perform her duties as Associate Principal.
When asked what she would like the community to know about the roles of an administrator, Hernandez emphatically shares how much she loves being an administrator and how sincere she is about being tasked with guiding students to the right path.
“I know the community expects a lot from us when it comes to caring for our students,” Hernandez says. “I will gladly continue my intentional work for our students and always support this community.”
