Football Star Signs Letter of Intent

Last Wednesday, Lamar Senior DeAnte Gentry signed his national letter of intent to attend the University of Montana.

This opportunity grants Gentry a full scholarship to play football in Montana. While the star athlete had many options to choose from, his reasons for selecting Montana are special.

“It felt like home,” Gentry explains. “I fell in love with the community and everyone there. Also, getting the chance to start as a freshman for a D1 school is a big deal. It was a no brainer to me.”

Gentry is a hybrid position player, meaning he plays both offense and defense. His contributions to Lamar’s varsity team were huge and he had a ton of pressure to perform well each game. Throughout the season, Gentry took great pride in setting a positive example for his teammates.

He has also made 1st team all-district for offensive utility. Throughout his career, Gentry has inspired a lot of other football players at Lamar to keep going despite difficulties associated with the game.
