Lamar’s head volleyball coach Heather Woodman was recently nominated for the very prestigious Region 3 Jody Conradt Award.
Woodman, a 2001 graduate of Arlington High School has been the head varsity volleyball coach for nine years now. She is also the Athletic Coordinator.
”I am beyond honored,” Woodman shares. “It is something I never expected – I simply focus on showing up to work everyday for my kids and for Lamar. That is all I ever wanted to do and to be nominated for this award feels pretty awesome.”
Boys Athletic Coordinator and head football coach – Billy Skinner nominated Woodman for the honor.
“To know that a peer nominated me is so cool,” Woodman adds.
Only five coaches in total were nominated for the Jody Conradt Award. On the day Woodman learned of her nomination, she remembers turning all red and smiling from ear to ear.
”I was shocked,” Woodman admits about her nomination. “The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) is mostly operated by men or football coaches and many women are trying to break into this organization, so I feel lucky to even be in this position.”
Woodman is a well-respected coach in Arlington and beyond. While she doesn’t care for public attention, she is indeed a BIG DEAL at Lamar.
