On Nov. 16, the Lamar girls varsity basketball team took a loss against Trimble Tech at 5 p.m. with a final score of 26-46.

The game took place at Trimble Technical High School. The team currently has a total of three losses against Wylie, Dunbar and Trimble Tech. The team won their first game against Irving on Nov. 9 with a final score of 52-37. The team has an overall record of 1-3 at the moment.

“Irving was a beatable team,” varsity captain Treasure Presley said. “We could’ve done better and played better. We always have a bad first quarter and we just don’t come out pushing, but then we finish fighting.”

The girls’ next game will be on Nov. 22 against Kennedale at 12 p.m. The Kennedale girls varsity basketball team just lost their first game against Sunnyvale with a final score of 49 – 54. Kennedale currently has an overall record of 5-1 according to Maxpreps.

“The season is starting kind of rough, but we’re a very young team, so I think we have a very developmental way to go,” varsity player Ellie Rather said.

The team has had two tournaments so far this season. One took place in Abilene and the other took place in Fort Worth. The team lost both tournaments with a final score of 48-37 (Abilene) and 46-32 (Fort Worth). The team has a neutral tournament against Plainview on Dec. 2 at 8:30 p.m.

“We work well together with both the coaches and players,” basketball coach Errin Levels said. “It’s special because we have a great level of respect and loyalty for each other. We truly enjoy each other’s company and it shows on the court, as well as in practice.”
