On Oct.18 the Lamar Choir Fall Concert took place at the Arlington ISD Center for Visual and Performing Arts and Athletics Complex at 7 p.m.

The Arlington ISD Center for Visual and Performing Arts and Athletics Complex (CVPA) is located at 900 E. Sanford St, Arlington, TX 76011. The center is used for Arlington ISD art programs, such as dance, theater, music, etc. It was built last year for showcasing student performances and artists.

“The concert was beautiful, I was glad that all of the singers got to be together again,” said choir performer, Imani Mogaka. “We sounded amazing thanks to Hagen and Kirby.”

The choirs performed many songs in the concert. Songs like “Ubuntu,” “Dancing Queen,’ and “Dream on” were sung during the concert. The concert was supposed to prepare the choir for their UIL competition coming up in Spring 2022. The Lamar choir directors, Greg Haugen and Cassandra Kirby, said they were very pleased with the performances.

“I think we could work on having better vowels and pronouncing the continents better, but that’s really it,” said choir performer Greg Hopkins. “Overall I think our performance went very well.”

There were three performances from cappella, concert choir, and show choir before the final concert at the end. The cappella performed at 5 p.m., concert choir performed at 5:30 p.m., and show choirs performed at 6 p.m.

“It was a fantastic performance from start to finish,” said choir director Haugen. “Every choir was prepared, every choir executed their songs beautifully, the audience loved the concert.”
