Netflix, with the start of the new year, brought thrilling shows that soared to popularity such as “You” starring Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble.

The Lamar student body was asked what is their favorite show or movie that’s on Netflix, and “You” won above other popular titles that’s come out in recent time. The show centers around a young man supposedly looking for love but have a twisted way of showing it. He lives his life as a puzzle and mystery for it all to end the same way. Through out the show you can hear the main character voice inside of his head which gives the audience a deeper understanding and explanation on why he is behaving out of his norms.

Another movie that’s has ben very popular is the documentary “Cheer” , in which Navarro college competitive cheer squad documentary go over their national title routine. The documentary gives the audience a the inside of how cheerleading operant and the blood, sweat , and tears in putting together everything for competition. Surprisingly the documentary was a popular hit especially since not everyone believes cheerleading is a serious sport, the Navarro cheer squad have gained publicity after the series and lan on to continue with more documentaries within the years.

Also worth mentioning is “The Witcher” starring Henry Cavill, the series is a mythologically show stemming from the popular obsession of super natural this show has been a hit since it have dropped on Netflix. The show is about a witch hunter who is goes on journeys towards his destiny in a turbulent world, all while fighting breast and evil people along the way. The twist to this show is not that Geralt is a witch hunter but; he is a professional assassin that people hire to take down beast, elves, fairies, spiders and many more mythological creatures. Overall, the show is very entertaining and filled with adult humor with great actors.

The beginning of 2020 brought a variety of shows for a variety of viewers, and with future arrivals such as “To All the Boys: P.S. I still Love you” and “Miss Americana,” the streaming world anticipates what comes ahead.
