Viking Voice keeps community informed

Every week, the Viking Voice is published to Lamar for students, staff, and parents to see what type of events or reminders are going on around the school.

Viking Voice’s purpose is to keep the parents and students informed of events that  happen at Lamar and to add personality to the campus. All websites in the Arlington School District have to be very similar, just to keep continuity across different campuses.

“We thought that adding a weekly update would keep parents informed but also add a little bit more personality to the information versus just a bunch of reminders,” Sarah ElSharif, assistant principal at Lamar, said.

Students and staff are able to have their pictures on the Viking Voice pages and be featured on some of the pages that are put together.

“Students should get involved with the Viking Voice so they can share good things, and get their clubs and organizations some publicity,” biology teacher Julie Valdez said.

ElSharif said the Viking Voice takes three hours each week to create. This week the Viking Voice will include sporting events, the college fair event, pep rallies, and field trips in the newsletter.

“Be sure to get involved, it’s definitely worth your time and effort,” senior Abigail Barefield said.
